Marco Hurrle is the Head of Department (HOD) and co-founder of the Onsite Energy – Sustainable Solutions division at Melita Power Diesel Ltd (MPD). With over 20 years of experience in combustion engines and energy systems for both marine and land-based applications, Marco has developed a deep expertise in delivering innovative energy solutions. He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, specialising in energy technologies, which has been fundamental to his work within the energy sector.

Marco manages a global team of highly skilled sales executives and expert technicians, operating across industries such as industrial, maritime, Oil and Gas, utilities, residential, and critical infrastructure like hospitals, airports, and data centres. His work focuses on providing cutting-edge energy solutions tailored to the diverse needs of these sectors.

As a proponent of alternative fuels, Marco is heavily involved in new projects integrating hydrogen, methanol, and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) into existing infrastructures. His approach is geared toward enhancing the sustainability of current energy systems while exploring new technologies. He is currently leading two pilot projects in Greece and Malta. These projects are focused on testing scalable microgrid setups that produce green fuels and electricity, specifically designed for harbor infrastructures and vessels. The pilots also aim to explore the potential future integration of these systems into both land-based and marine applications.
